Preview: Chattanooga FC Women vs UFA Gunners

Hannah Opie attempts a pass against 865 Alliance

Chattanooga FC Women will face off against UFA Gunners in their fourth game of the 2024 WPSL season on Sunday, June 16. Coming off of their first win of the season, the Sky Blues will look to tack on another win to throw off an already chaotic Southeast Conference table.

CFCW are coming off a 4-1 victory away at FC Birmingham. The win saw four players, Ava VanDoren, Brady Livingston, Juliette Lucas and Janne Van Brummelen, get their first goals of the season.

CFCW sit in fifth place with two games in hand against first-place Nashville Rhythm FC. A victory against the Gunners will set up a five-team battle for first place halfway through the WPSL season.

This will be the first time UFA and CFCW will face off, with it being UFA’s first season in the WPSL.

Know the Opponent

UFA Gunners sit in second place in the WPSL Southeast Conference and remain unbeaten this season, with 10 points and two games in hand on first-place Nashville Rhythm (15 points).

In their four games played, they’ve won three against Nashville Rhythm, FC Nashville Wolves and Atlanta Fire United, and drew 2-2 against Knoxville 865 Alliance.

The Gunners’ three victories have been very influential on the league standings. Their 3-0 win against first-place Nashville Rhythm, who had not lost a game in the regular season in two years, was the most significant.

Their third and most recent win was a 10-0 thrashing of FC Nashville Wolves, which sees their goal difference stand at a conference-leading +21.

Jordynn Dudley, a U.S. Women’s National Team youth player and NCAA champion with Florida State, will be their player to watch. She has five goals in four games and is joint-second in the conference for goals scored, only behind the conference-leading Angeline Kieh of Nashville Rhythm.
