Chattanooga Football Club is proud to recognize Co-Founder of Learning Blade, Sheila Boyington.
Sheila Boyington, co-founder of Learning Blade and KeyTrain/Career Ready 101, stands as a beacon of community spirit and cultural pride in Chattanooga. As a proud Indian-American, Boyington has dedicated herself to fostering inclusivity and understanding within the city. Since moving to Chattanooga after college, she has immersed herself in the local community, making significant contributions both professionally and personally.
The significance of AAPI Month to Boyington
For Boyington, AAPI Heritage Month holds great significance. "As an Indian-American woman, it’s a time to celebrate the diverse cultures, contributions, and experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States," she explains. "This month is a moment to reflect on the rich tapestry of traditions, values, and achievements that make up the AAPI community, specifically Indians."
Boyington envisions Chattanooga’s celebration of AAPI Month as a time to recognize the myriad ways Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders enrich the community, acknowledging their cultural heritage, honoring their accomplishments, and fostering inclusivity and understanding.
Heritage and community involvement
Boyington’s Chattanooga story is one of opportunity and community. Her parents, who came from India in the 1950s individually, met in Florida and decided to stay in the United States. She arrived in Chattanooga after college with her husband and discovered a vibrant city with a strong sense of community.
"Chattanooga has become home, a place where we forged lasting connections, contributed to its growth, and embraced its natural beauty and welcoming spirit."
Boyington’s heritage is a profound source of pride and identity. "It’s a connection to my roots, a reminder of the struggles and triumphs of those who came before me, and a celebration of the diverse traditions and customs that shape who I am."
Boyington is proud to be part of the AAPI community, both locally in Chattanooga and globally, and is committed to promoting understanding, unity, and empowerment within this community and beyond.
Supporting Chattanooga Football Club was a natural choice for Boyington and her family, drawn to the camaraderie, passion, and community spirit that CFC embodies.
"Our first game at Finley was a memorable experience, filled with excitement and energy," she recalls. For Boyington, CFC represents the inclusive and vibrant spirit of Chattanooga, and she is proud to be part of its supporters.
As AAPI Heritage Month unfolds, Boyington’s story highlights the rich narratives and contributions that Asian-Americans bring to Chattanooga and the nation. Her dedication to her heritage, community, and inclusivity exemplifies the impact of embracing diversity and actively engaging in one’s community.
