After remaining unbeaten in the league in the club's first seven league matches at Finley Stadium, Chattanooga FC suffered its first home defeat of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season on Saturday evening in a 2-1 loss to fellow independent side Carolina Core FC.
In the midst of being understandably frustrated with the result, Sporting Director and Head Coach Rod Underwood took the opportunity during his post-match press conference to reiterate his core belief in the group that he and his coaching staff assembled for the club's inaugural season in the league.
"I expect a good response from this group," said Underwood. "I have a lot of faith in this group. I have a lot of belief in this group. I believe they'll be up and focused for that game, and we need to make sure we come and do that. When we look at it... it's a bad loss tonight. But I believe in this group. I believe in what they can do. We need things to be done right.
"We've got enough leaders in this group that it will be made right."
CFC will have time to regroup, with its next league match taking place in two weeks on July 6th at Finley Stadium against Crown Legacy FC.
