Brown was a 2024 open tryout registrant and has earned a professional contract with Chattanooga Football Club.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Feb. 23, 2024) — Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) today announced it has signed defender Logan Brown to a one-year deal with a club option for a year extension, pending league and federation approval.
The University of Dayton product came to Chattanooga in January as an open trialist. After impressing the coaching staff, Brown has since remained with the squad throughout the 2024 preseason and earned a professional contract.
The right-footed center-back spent 2022 and 2023 with the University of Dayton in the Atlantic 10 conference, where he was a member of the student-athlete advisory committee, earned CSC Academic All-District and Atlantic 10 all-tournament team honors. Brown started in every match for the Flyers both years.
Brown scored a memorable goal in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Championship against the University of Louisville in what proved to be his final match for the Flyers.
The Texas-born defender played for the University of Massachusetts for two seasons from 2020-2021 and appeared in 23 matches for the Minutemen.
"After the first 45 minutes on the first day of open tryouts I asked Chris [Nugent, assistant coach], 'Who's this guy? I like him.'", said Head Coach and Sporting Director Rod Underwood. "It was pretty quick. We kept watching him and he didn't make any mistakes. We said, 'Ok, maybe it's just the open tryout, so let's bring him into the invite.' We brought him there and he didn't put a foot wrong. So we then wanted to see him with our signed players, and he's done well and he has a good learning mindset. It looks like he can play multiple positions for us along the backline, maybe even in midfield."
Brown graduated from Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas in May of 2019 and also attended the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida from 2016 to 2018.
"I'm very excited to be a part of this historic club that has developed a great fanbase who truly feel like an extension of the team," said Brown upon signing with CFC. "Even during the preseason games I could feel their energy and helping hand with my play. I look forward to playing alongside the fans this year and giving them something to be excited about.
"A community focused club to me means giving back by any means, and realizing that the club and I would not be here without the support from the community around us, and giving back to the community in any way is always beneficial to express gratitude and a helping hand as they help us as well."
Brown will wear the number 24 jersey.
Chattanooga FC will compete in MLS NEXT Pro for the first time beginning in 2024. Fans can explore all ticketing options at ChattanoogaFC.com.
