A total of nine MLS NEXT Pro clubs ended Matchday 11 in new places among the league’s Power Rankings.
Colorado Rapids 2 and Crown Legacy FC remained atop the Top 10, but spots No. 3 - 10 all featured moving and shaking following recent league results. Houston Dynamo 2 entered the Top 10 for the first time this season while Tacoma Defiance dropped out completely.
Austin FC II retained the No. 3 spot after holding it for so long earlier this season.

Orlando City B suffered one of its disappointing results of 2023, falling 3-0 at TFC II on Matchday 11. The road result was also costly in the MLS NEXT Pro Power Rankings as Martin Perelman’s squad dropped from No. 7 to No. 10.

For the first time in 2023, Houston Dynamo 2 have entered the MLS NEXT Pro Top 10 Power Rankings. Back-to-back victories for Kenny Bundy’s squad have continued a recent four-match unbeaten run. Diego Gonzalez has been key during that stretch, scoring in each of his last four appearances.

NYCFC II’s winning run has not only boosted them up the Power Rankings, but has also helped Matt Pilkington’s squad inch up the Eastern Conference. A 4-3 comeback road victory over Huntsville City FC featured two goals from Matthew Myers, as well as a third goal of 2023 for Jonathan Jimenez. NYCFC II is certainly finding its groove with three-straight victories under its belt.

Defending MLS NEXT Pro champions Columbus Crew 2 have continued to slip in recent weeks which has led them to fall to No. 7 in our Power Rankings. A 4-2 loss to Chicago Fire II was the third-in-a-row for Laurent Courtois’ men, who suffered the unwanted statline for the first time in club history. Crew 2 have what it takes to turn things around, but it all starts on Matchday 12 vs. Crown Legacy FC.

Another Eastern Conference club on the way up was New York Red Bulls II after a convincing 4-1 home victory over New England Revolution II. 19-year-old Ibrahim Kasule has netted three goals during their positive run of form, while Oladayo Thomas has also found the back of the net three times this season. A rivalry showdown with NYCFC II is on the cards for Matchday 12.

Whitecaps FC 2 also jumped back up into the Top Five after moving behind Colorado Rapids 2 for the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference. Ricardo Clark’s men are riding a four-match unbeaten run, which recently included a 5-4 shootout win over Sporting KC II. Levonte Johnson’s five goals have been a positive spark for Whitecaps FC 2 this season.

New England Revolution II remains one of the top challengers in the Eastern Conference, but a 4-1 road loss to New York Red Bulls II dropped Clint Peay’s squad to No. 4 in the Power Rankings. A four-match winning streak was snapped in the process as Revs II conceded four goals for the first time since May 6. Back-to-back home matches against Chicago Fire II and NYCFC II could pose good opportunities for Revs II to bounce back

Austin FC II got back to winning ways on Matchday 11 with David Rodriguez and Valentin Noel leading the way in a 3-0 triumph over Real Monarchs. Brett Uttley’s squad continued to be the most impressive team on home soil, leading the league with 17 points earned at Parmer Field to date. A head-to-head showdown with second place Whitecaps FC 2 could prove crucial on whether Austin FC II can start a new unbeaten run.

Crown Legacy FC enjoyed a bye week on Matchday 11, retaining their place as No. 2 in the process. Iuri Tavares recently was named MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month for May after scoring three goals for the expansion side. Now Crown Legacy FC prepares for a Matchday 12 trip to Columbus Crew 2 on Sunday, seeking to sweep the regular season series against the reigning champions.

Colorado Rapids 2’s latest comeback performance helped Erik Bushey’s squad make history after becoming the first MLS NEXT Pro club to hold an 11-match unbeaten run.
Two late goals from Yosuke Hanya and Daouda Amadou helped Rapids fight back against Earthquakes II before earning a 4-2 shootout result. Rapids 2 continues to lead the league with 29 points, 29 goals scored, and a +17 goal differential. Hanya’s eight goals have him leading the Golden Boot race as well.
