MLS NEXT Pro Power Rankings: Matchweek 13

NTX B

Matchweek 13 action in MLS NEXT Pro featured a continued winning run for North Texas SC, a dropped result for Philadelphia Union II, and plenty of moving and shaking in both conferences.

NTX extended their winning run to four matches, moving to 28 points in the Western Conference. St. Louis CITY2 also earned three points this past weekend while fellow top-four sides Ventura County FC and Sporting KC II each earned shootout wins.

FC Cincinnati 2 defeated Philadelphia Union II in a top-four showdown in the East while Chicago Fire II earned two points against Chattanooga FC.

Here is a closer look at MLS NEXT Pro's Top 10 Power Rankings following Matchweek 13:

10.) Whitecaps FC 2

Three-straight wins for Whitecaps FC 2 have boosted them into the Matchweek 13 Power Rankings.

After back-to-back victories over VCFC and The Town FC, Whitecaps FC 2 rolled past LAFC2 by a 4-0 scoreline. Myles Morgan added a brace while Nicolas Chateau and Eliot Goldthorp also added goals of their own.

It marked a statement result for the Canadian club, who closes out a four-match homestand against MNUFC2 on Thursday.

Last Match: 4-0 win over LAFC2.
Next Match: vs. MNUFC2 on Thursday, June 13.

9.) LAFC2

Back-to-back shutout losses are a worrying sign for LAFC2.

A 4-0 defeat at the hands of Whitecaps FC 2 on Sunday extended LAFC2's goalless drought to 180 minutes. Upcoming home matches against The Town FC and Colorado Rapids 2 after a bye week should provide good opportunities to bounce back though, especially with both sitting behind LAFC2 in the standings.

Last Match: 4-0 loss at Whitecaps FC 2.
Next Match: vs. The Town FC on Sunday, June 23.

8.) Sporting KC II

Sporting KC II extended their regulation unbeaten streak to four matches this past weekend.

A 5-3 shootout win over Houston Dynamo 2 helped Benny Feilhaber's squad remain one of the consistent teams in MLS NEXT Pro. Johann Ortiz and Maouloune Goumballe both found the back of the net, pegging Dynamo 2 back on two occasions.

It will be a quick turnaround for SKC II, who visits Real Monarchs on Wednesday.

Last Match: 2-2, SOW vs. Houston Dynamo 2.
Next Match: at Real Monarchs on Wednesday, June 12.

7.) Chicago Fire II

Chicago Fire II have earned eight points out of their last nine to continue climbing in the Eastern Conference.

A 4-3 shootout win over Chattanooga FC moved Fire II to fourth place in the East. Lamonth Rochester scored his first goal of the season before 31-year-old Jeffrey Gal made one key shootout save to preserve the home result.

The next three matches are away from home for Fire II, but luckily they are all against teams behind them in the standings.

Last Match: 1-1, SOW vs. Chattanooga FC
Next Match: at Huntsville City FC on Sunday, June 16.

6.) Ventura County FC

Ventura County FC used a 95th minute tying goal to leave Oregon with two points against Timbers2.

A 3-2 shootout win over Timbers2 featured six combined goals by the two Western Conference clubs. Isaiah Parante, Aaron Bibout, and Ruben Ramos all found the back of the net before Brady Scott made two shootout saves to preserve the comeback result.

VCFC have scored three goals or more in back-to-back matches for the first time since late-March.

Last Match: 3-3, SOW at Timbers2
Next Match: at Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday, June 16.

5.) St. Louis CITY2

Another winning streak continued following Matchweek 12, and that was St. Louis CITY2's

CITY2 stayed close to North Texas SC atop the Western Conference after making it three-straight wins on Thursday. A 1-0 road victory over Tacoma Defiance marked CITY2's second shutout in recent weeks and their second-straight result away from home.

Johnny Klein's fourth tally of the season was all Bobby Murphy's squad needed to stay hot in the West.

Last Match: 1-0 win at Tacoma Defiance
Next Match: vs. Houston Dynamo 2 on Sunday, June 16

4.) FC Cincinnati 2

After watching their winning run come to an end, FC Cincinnati 2 rebounded by defeating the Eastern Conference leaders.

A 2-0 road triumph over Philadelphia Union II featured a brace from Kenji Mboma Dem. It marked Dem's first goals of the 2024 season, which have come at a crucial time for Tyrone Marshall's squad.

A two-match roadtrip concludes on June 15 against Carolina Core FC.

Last Match: 2-0 win at Philadelphia Union II
Next Match: at Carolina Core FC on Saturday, June 15.

3.) Chattanooga FC

Chattanooga FC extended its point streak to three matches after earning one on the road in Chicago.

Mehdi Ouamri's second-consecutive goalscoring performance helped CFC earn one point despite a 4-3 shootout loss to Chicago Fire II. CFC have only lost one match in regulation dating back to May 1, which is why they've continued to stay near the top of the Eastern Conference.

Last Match: 1-1, SOL at Chicago Fire II
Next Match: at Orlando City B on Thursday, June 13.

2.) Philadelphia Union II

The winning run for Philadelphia Union II has ended at four.

Marlon LeBlanc's squad fell 2-0 at home on Thursday, which marked their second head-to-head defeat against FCC2 in the past six weeks. It marked the first time this season in which Union II failed to find the back of the net, a trend that they hope won't continue heading into a Matchweek 14 trip to Crown Legacy FC.

Last Match: 2-0 loss vs. FC Cincinnati 2
Next Match: at Crown Legacy FC on Thursday, June 13.

1.) North Texas SC

The rise continued for Western Conference leaders North Texas SC.

A 3-0 shutout win over MNUFC2 gave NTX their fourth-straight win in league play. NTX have now outscored their opponents 11-2 over that span. NTX head coach John Gall has been promoted to FC Dallas' coaching staff as an assistant coach, opening the door for Michel Garbini to take over as interim.

Last Match: 3-0 win at MNUFC2
Next Match: Bye Week
