Brandon Cambridge's brace on Friday night led Crown Legacy FC to their first-ever win in MLS NEXT Pro. Cambridge's two goals gave him 3 in the young season, and he is tied for first overall with MNUFC2's Diogo Pacheco in the very early Golden Boot race. The Crown Legacy FC forward opened up the scoring for his team in the 25th minute with a shot inside the box that deflected off the goalkeeper and into the goal.
His second goal would come less than ten minutes later on a beautiful individual play that displayed his technical skills with a well-placed shot that beat the FCC2 goalkeeper to give his team the 2-0 lead and eventual victory.
Cambridge's effort on Friday vs. FCC2 earned him MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchday 2. Up next for Crown Legacy, they head north to take on New York Red Bulls II at Montclair State University Soccer Park. This Sunday at 7 pm Eastern will mark the first road test for the team from North Carolina.
