MLS NEXT Pro Matchday 10 Recap Blitz

A busy Matchday 10 in MLS NEXT Pro continued Sunday and Monday, with plenty of exciting results and memorable goals.

Let's take a look back at the action in Matchday 10.

Orlando City B (3) - New York Red Bulls II (2)

Orlando City B continues to work its way into good form, coming from behind Monday night to beat New York Red Bulls II. Jack Lynn had a big night, scoring one goal and heading a shot toward goal that went down as an own goal.

Lynn opened scoring with a diving header that bounced back off the Red Bulls II goalkeeper and in the net. Red Bulls II came back with goals from Ibrahim Kasule in the 31st minute and Ricardo Gorday in the 45th minute.

Lynn scored to make it 2-2 in the 61st minute, pouncing on a defensive mistake. Just three minutes later, Shakur Mohammed scored from short-range to put OCB in front.

OCB picked up its second win in a row, continuing a resurgence after going three weeks without a win previously. Red Bulls II ended a three-game winning streak with the loss.

Earthquakes II (1) - Timbers2 (2)

Timbers2 broke out of a cold streak with its first win in two matches, taking all three points from a road trip to PayPal park. Florian Monzon dispatched a penalty kick in the 90th minute to give T2 the win in exciting fashion.

Diego Gutierrez struck first, scoring a long-range effort that took a heavy deflection from a Quakes II defender. Quakes II's Rodolfo Castro equalized with a powerful, well-placed shot at the top of the box in the 35th minute.

T2 picked up its third win of the season as it attempts to climb up the Western Conference table. Earthquakes II remains in the middle of the table, at 10th-place with 14 points.

Atlanta United 2 (2) - TFC II (0)

Atlanta United 2 passed the test at home, notching a wire-to-wire win over TFC II. An own-goal and a Karim Tmimi goal in the first half allowed ATL UTD 2 to stretch an unbeaten streak to three games.

Tmimi doubled the lead in the 49th minute with his fifth goal in the past six games. Tmimi turned in a cross from Fuad Adeniyi. ATL UTD 2 continued to dominate, holding TFC II without a single shot on goal.

Chicago Fire FC II (0) - Crown Legacy FC (1)

David Poreba fired Crown Legacy FC into the lead in the 40th minute, and the Eastern Conference leaders held on for a win at SeatGeek Stadium against Chicago Fire FC II.

Crown Legacy goalkeeper Isaac Walker made four saves, including an impressive point-blank stop with his left arm in the 38th minute.

Crown Legacy got back on track after a loss to Huntsville City FC and a shootout win against Philadelphia Union II. Crown Legacy continues to lead the Eastern Conference with 27 points. Fire II has now gone almost two months without a win.

Houston Dynamo 2 (2) - Austin FC II (0)

Two first-half goals guided Houston Dynamo 2 past Austin FC II as Dynamo Dos brought an unbeaten run to three games. Diego Gonzalez and Charles Auguste scored to bring Dynamo Dos all three points.

Gonzalez struck from the right side of the 18-yard box to bring Dynamo Dos the lead in the 11th minute. The team doubled the lead in the 40th minute, with Charles Auguste scored from the rebound of a blocked shot at the top of the box.

Dynamo Dos became the first team to score more than one goal on Austin FC II so far in 2023. Dynamo Dos, enjoying an excellent month of May, advanced to fifth-place in the Western Conference.

MNUFC2 (1) - Colorado Rapids 2 (4)

Colorado Rapids 2 overpowered MNUFC2 Sunday night, taking all three points from a road trip to National Sports Center. Remi Cabral scored twice to bring his 2023 tally to four goals.

Rapids 2 started things off with two goals in two minutes, with Connor Miller and Remi Cabral scoring the 23rd and 25th minutes. Oliver Larraz added a third goal in the 54th minute. MNUFC2's Cameron Dunbar kept his team in the game, pulling a goal back two minutes later.

Larraz tied for the league lead in assists by assisting Cabral's first goal.

Rapids 2 tied the MLS NEXT Pro record unbeaten streak with the win. Rapids 2's streak stands at 10 games. Rapids 2 leads the pack in the Western Conference with 27 points.

New England Revolution II (1) - Inter Miami II (0)

Pierre Cayet's 8th-minute header allowed New England Revolution II to earn its fourth win in a row.

Cayet headed a set-piece feed from midfielder Jake Rozhansky for the lead early in the match. Inter Miami II fought back with 16 total shots, but only managed two on goal. Rozhansky supplied his second assist in the past three matches.

Revs II rose to second-place in the Eastern Conference with the win. The club is four points behind leaders Crown Legacy. Inter Miami II's struggles continued, with the club dropping its third game in a row.

St Louis CITY2 (2) - North Texas SC (2) (CITY2 wins shootout 5-4)

North Texas SC came back from a two-goal deficit, but St Louis CITY2 managed to earn two points at CITYPark with a shootout win. Nayrobi Vargas and Diego Pepi scored as North Texas completed the comeback early on in the second half.

Pepi, the younger brother of U.S. national team star Ricardo Pepi, scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute, punching in a lower driven cross. Aziel Jackson propeled CITY2 with the game's opening goal and an assist of Michael Wentzel's 25th-minute goal.

CITY2 goalkeeper Michael Creek saved a fifth-round penalty to give CITY2 the shootout win.

Though CITY2 suffered the comeback at home, the club has still improved an unbeaten streak to four games. North Texas, on the other hand, has suffered four straight shootout losses.

NYCFC II (2) - FC Cincinnati 2 (1)

A goal and an assist for Jack Beer propelled NYCFC II to three points at Belson Stadium Sunday night.

Beer scored his second goal in as many games with a perfectly placed free kick into the upper right corner in the 7th minute. Beer assisted a goal from Massimo Murania Yankowitz in the 66th minute by taking a corner kick that found Yakowitz' head. FCC2's Benjamin Stitz capitalized on a defensive mistake and pulled a goal back in the 78th minute.

FCC2 have gone more than a month without a win, while NYCFC II picked up its second win in a row. NYCFC II rose to sixth-place in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia Union II (3) - Columbus Crew 2 (2)

A hat trick from Jeremy Rafanello lead Philadelphia Union II to knock off one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference Sunday night in Columbus Crew 2. Rafanello completed his hat trick with the game-winning goal in the 81st minute, a powerful long-range shot that goes down as one of the most impressive goals of Matchday 10.

Crew 2 took a commanding early lead, with goals from Marco Micaletto and Gibran Rayo finding Crew 2 up 2-0 after the 24th minute.

Rafanello scored his first goal in the 33rd minute, converting a penalty kick. He struck again just two minutes later, sending an accurate shot into the bottom left corner in the 35th minute.

Crew 2, coming off a loss to Revs II last week, saw its momentum come to a screeching halt. Union II is picking up the pace, taking points from four of its last five matches.

LA Galaxy II (2) - Whitecaps FC 2 (2) (Galaxy II wins shootout 

LA Galaxy II earned two points Sunday night, with Aaron Bibout scoring a brace and Galaxy II goalkeeper Novak Micovic saving two shots in the shootout. Bibout capped off a memorable night by scoring Galaxy II's final spot kick of the shootout.

Bibout opened scoring in the 27th minute, scoring from short range to finish off a dangerous Galaxy II attack. Whitecaps FC 2's Joshue Ndakala equalized in the 34th minute, but Bibout struck again in the 51st minute. Malcolm Johnston's goal just two minutes later sent the match to a shootout.

Bibout tied Rapids 2's Yosuke Hanya for the league lead in goalscoring with Sunday night's brace. Both players have scored seven goals in 2023.

Whitecaps FC 2 extended an unbeaten run to three games, despite being unable to pick up the extra point. Galaxy II bounced back from a loss to MNUFC2 by picking up two points.
