Chattanooga FC forward Minjae Kwak has claimed the MLS NEXT Pro Matchweek 28 Goal of the Matchweek award after winning over 80% of the vote.
Other nominees included MNUFC2’s Samuel Shashuoa, Real Monarch’s Griffon Dillon, and Sporting KC II’s Kamron Habibullah.
Kwak’s stunning 18th-minute strike from the edge of the penalty box gave Chattanooga an early lead against New England Revolution II.
Although the match ended in a draw, CFC secured a crucial extra point to stay in the playoff race.
The 24-year-old forward is in his first season with Chattanooga FC, having previously played for California United Strikers, Syracuse Pulse, and Vancouver FC.
This season, he has started nine games and logged over 700 minutes on the field.
Chattanooga FC currently sits in tenth place in the Eastern Conference, tied with Carolina Core FC, and just one point behind Chicago Fire II, who hold the final playoff spot.
Chattanooga FC’s quest for a playoff spot will have them travel north to face Toronto FC II on Sunday, September 29th.
