St. Louis CITY2's Michael Wentzel has earned the MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchweek 26 award thanks to his stunning outside-the-box strike against Colorado Rapids 2 this past weekend.
Wentzel's goal beat out other top contenders, including Timbers2's Tyler Clegg, Inter Miami II's Ryan Carmichael, and Ventura County FC's Ifunanyachi Achara.
The 22-year-old's strike, his first goal of the season, was instrumental in clinching the win for CITY2.
With this victory, CITY2 remains near the top of the Western Conference table, holding steady in second place with 49 points. Next up for Bobby Murphy’s squad is a matchup against MNUFC2 at CITYPARK on Sunday, September 15th.
