LAFC2 forward Tommy Mihalić has earned the MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchweek 23 thanks to his stunning long-range strike against Real Monarchs over the weekend.
The 22-year-old broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, unleashing a right-footed shot from outside the box that got past the Real Monarchs keeper and into the back of the net.
The goal secured LAFC2 a 1-0 victory that snapped a four-match winless streak and kept Junior Gonzalez's side in the playoff race with seven games remaining.
Other Goal of Matchweek 23 contenders included Liam Butts (New England Revolution II), Missael Rodríguez (The Town FC), and Aaron Essel (North Texas SC).
For Mihalić, it was his ninth goal of the season in 19 appearances since joining the Black and Gold out of Indiana University earlier this year.
The former Hoosier previously played alongside fellow MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot contender Sam Sarver from North Texas SC.
Up next, LAFC2 will look for back-to-back victories when they host Whitecaps FC 2 on Thursday, August 21 at Titan Stadium.
