Inter Miami II forward Leo Afonso has earned the Goal of the Matchday 20 honor for his fantastic outside the box strike against Crown Legacy FC.
Other nominees for Goal of Matchday 20 included Houston Dynamo 2’s Gabriel Segal, FC Cincinnati 2’s Moises Tablante and The Town FC’s Beau Leroux.
Afonso scored twice against Crown Legacy FC with his first goal coming late in the first half during an Inter Miami II counter attack. He struck again midway through the second half, completing his brace in the 62nd minute and securing a 2-0 victory for Inter Miami II.
The 23-year-old has continued to impress for Inter Miami II, having now scored seven goals in six appearances in 2024. After being drafted by Inter Miami in the second round of the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, Afonso has rapidly made his mark, signing a first team contract in early April.
