New York Red Bulls II forward O’Vonte Mullings has earned the MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchday 20 honor thanks to his crucial strike against New England Revolution II that leveled the game in the final minute.
Mullings’ goal sent the game to a shootout, where Red Bulls II earned the extra point defeating the home side by 4-3.
Mullings earned over 35% of the Twitter poll vote, with WFC2’s Lowell Wright and Earthquakes II’s Ousseni Bouda each earning 25% of the vote.
With New England Revolution II leading the game well into stoppage time, Red Bulls II continued their attack in hopes of equalizing the game. Red Bulls II midfielder Henry Wise sent a cross to the New England box, where Jacob Jackson punched the ball away.
The cleared ball would land at the feet of O’Vonte Mullings, who struck the ball at goal, catching the keeper off his line and leveling the match in the last play of the game.
As a result of their shootout victory, New York Red Bulls II currently occupy the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference standings leading up to Matchday 21. Should they secure a win at home against Orlando City B during their midweek match, they have the opportunity to climb to as high as the second position in the East standings heading into Matchday 23.
