Inter Miami II's Benjamin Cremaschi named to Argentina U-20 National Team

Less than a week after becoming the fifth Inter Miami CF Academy product to sign a first-team contract, Benjamin Cremaschi was selected by the Argentinian U-20 National Team to attend a training camp in Buenos Aires.

Led by the legendary Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano, the Argentinian U-20 team will gather on December 12 to prepare for their upcoming 2023 South American U-20 Championship.

Cremaschi is the only player called to the camp that plays outside Argentina at the club level.

The 17-year-old turned many heads over that past year with his outstanding performances at various levels.

He first guided the Weston FC U-16 team, an Inter Miami Academy partner club, to the 2021 MLS NEXT Cup title while earning the Golden Ball honors as the tournament’s best player.

Cremaschi then joined Inter Miami youth ranks in the summer of 2021 and helped guide the team’s U-17 squad to a Generation Adidas Cup semi-final while also getting selected as part of the MLS NEXT All-Star team.

During the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season, Cremaschi continued to make an impact scoring five times and contributing one assist in thirteen appearances for Inter Miami CF II.

At the international level, Cremaschi, who can represent both the US and Argentina, helped the U.S. Under-19 men’s national team to a perfect record on their way to lifting the 2022 Slovenia Nations Cup trophy. Cremaschi showed off his goal-scoring prowess by scoring a brace against Croatia during the tournament.

Before getting the call-up from Argentina, the Florida native was selected for the US U-20s team that would serve as sparring partners in a week-long training camp in Frisco, Texas, for the US Men’s National Team before they departed for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“It was a great experience. I was excited to go there and challenge the guys as they prepare for the World Cup. The best thing we could do as a U-20 group challenged them and give them a hard time so they can watch film and find ways to be better to be able to beat the teams they will face,” Cremaschi stated.

It remains to see what nation Benjamin Cremaschi will choose to represent in the future, but right now, the sky’s the limit for the youngster.
