MNUFC2 locked down a spot in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs thanks to a seven-game unbeaten run to finish their season with 45 points and a fifth-place spot in the West (12W-6D-10L).
They finished September with three wins and one shootout victory, while Darius Randell earned a Player of the Month award with six goal contributionsÂ
After their 2025 run to the Western Conference Final, MNUFC2 will look to go one step further this year, starting with a trip to to Dignity Health Sports Park to face Ventura County FC on Friday, October 16 (10 PM ET | MLSNEXTPro.com, OneFootball).
Season series
Ventura County FC and MNUFC2 did not meet during the 2026 regular season, making their quarterfinal matchup the first time they've faced each other since June of 2025.
Historically, the matchup has belonged to MNUFC2.
The Twoons have won three of the four all-time meetings, only losing the last time they faced off.
Player spotlight
With striker Marcus Caldeira graduating to the first team, red-hot Randell has been MNUFC2's second-half MVP in 2026, scoring 12 goals to go along with four assists to lead his side to the playoffs.Â
Jordan Adebayo-Smith is a veteran presence in the MNUFC2 frontline and can provide a scoring punch when needed.Â
Right back Sam Vigilante has been a bright spot in MNUFC2's backline, adding two goals and an assist in 20 starts.
