Hernán López, take a bow!

In a rehab appearance with The Town FC, the San Jose Earthquakes club-record Designated Player signing was shining in MLS NEXT Pro, and couldn't help but enter the league's 2025 Goal of the Year conversation on Sunday against St Louis CITY2.

In just the seventh minute of the match, the 24-year-old Argentine caught CITY2's goalkeeper napping to rifle in an unreal shot from TTFC's own half to open the scoring of a 4-0 win.

“I saw the 'keeper was way off his line, and I took my shot," López said with a smile postgame. "Normal day at the office.”

López is working his way back to the Quakes' first team after recovering from a shoulder surgery in March that initially had him scheduled to miss three to four months of action.

He's gone for 77 minutes in MLS NEXT Pro in the last two weeks across two TTFC wins, and Sunday's golazo is proof that his eye for goal needed no time to recalibrate.

In the San Jose first-team setup, López has contributed nine goals and three assists across all competitions. When ready, he'll be a headliner in a rejuvenated Quakes side that sits seventh in the Western Conference.
