HIGH POINT, N.C. (September 9, 2026) – Carolina Core FC today announced the re-signing of midfielder Antonio Pineda for the 2027 season, bringing back a familiar presence as the Foxes continue building their roster ahead of the upcoming MLS NEXT Pro Sprint Season.
With two matches remaining in the 2026 season, Pineda has appeared in 18 matches for Carolina Core FC, making eight starts and logging 764 minutes. The midfielder has recorded three goals and two assists while completing 76% of his passes. Pineda has also registered 11 shots, including seven on target.
“We’re so excited about our first signing of 2027,” said Carolina Core FC Head Coach Jake Davis. “Antonio Pineda makes a huge difference for us as a club. He’s an impactful player, and while our fans didn’t get to see as much of him this year as we would have liked because of different injuries, when he’s on the pitch, we’re a better team.”
“Pineda represents the Core extremely well both on and off the pitch,” Davis continued. “He’s a difference-maker, and we want to be intentional about how we build this club moving forward. We’re excited for Tony and looking forward to having him back for the Sprint Season.”
Pineda joined Carolina Core FC in 2025 following a standout season with NPSL side Hickory FC. During his time in Hickory, Pineda was named the 2025 NPSL Golden Ball winner and Capelli Sport NPSL Southeast Conference MVP after scoring seven goals during the regular season.
He helped Hickory complete an undefeated regular-season campaign before capturing the NPSL Championship, scoring two decisive goals during the club’s championship run.
A Statesville, North Carolina native and former High Point University standout, Pineda has continued his professional career close to home while maintaining strong ties to the region.
