Timbers2 midfielder Alex Moreno has earned the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchweek 2 honor for his stunning free-kick goal against Real Monarchs.
Moreno put Timbers2 on the board in the 19th minute, curling a free kick over the Monarchsā wall and striking the underside of the crossbar before the ball bounced in for the goal.
The Timbers2 midfielder received the most poll votes, beating out nominees such as Philadelphia Union IIās Cavan Sullivan, Tacoma Defianceās Edson Carli, and Real Monarchsā Aiden Hezarkhani.
The 19-year-old is a Portland Timbers academy product and has played with Timbers2 since 2022. Moreno signed his professional contract with the club in 2024.
Despite Morenoās goal, Timbers2 fell short against Real Monarchs and will look to rebound when they face The Town FC on Wednesday, March 26.
