Another action-packed week of MLS NEXT Pro is in the books.

Chicago Fire FC II headlined the Eastern Conference storylines with a Team of the Matchweek performance that saw them extend their unbeaten streak to eight in a two-match slate.

In the West, St Louis CITY2 are working on a streak of their own as winners of five in a row, with their latest over fellow heavyweight Houston Dynamo 2.

Here’s a closer look at how this week’s action shuffled the Top 10 Power Rankings.

Fresh off taking the top spot in the Eastern Conference and Top 10 Power Rankings in recent weeks, RBNY II was tested greatly in a weekend tie against FC Cincinnati 2.

Though the ensuing shootout loss dampens things a bit, it's still a seven-game unbeaten streak for the Eastern Conference leaders.

An unbeaten May was followed by a winless June.

Chattanooga FC is set for a gauntlet in the next couple of weeks with their peers at the top of the Eastern Conference table. Very likely a playoff preview. How will they use it?

Another week, another gutsy finish for St Louis CITY2.

Striker Emil Jääskeläinen grabbed the late winner to make it six straight wins.

What’s more, CITY2 have scored a whopping six goals after the 80th minute across their last three matches, showing their grit as the most dangerous team to be in a deadlock with late in a game.

Next match: at Real Monarchs on Sunday, July 6

Philadelphia Union II survived a double-fixture Matchweek 16 and extended their unbeaten streak to five via two ties and shootout wins.

The secret sauce? Union II are doing a lot of things right, but their 11 goals allowed is pacing the league.

Still with only one loss on their record, Union II remains a real threat to repeat as Eastern Conference champs despite a significant amount of turnover from last year.

It’s a season of streaks for Rapids 2, who find themselves on a three-game winless slide.

Down but not out, though. The potent Rapids 2 attack hasn’t been kept off the board in over a month, and their third place standing in the West is some prime real estate in the second half of the season.

If they can get back in the win column this week, the three-game streak will be a non-story.
