The Foxes on the Hunt
In their last match, Carolina Core FC secured an important victory over Huntsville City FC 2-0, boosting them above the playoff line for the first time this season.
Two defenders would get on the scoresheet for The Foxes, with Juan Pablo Rodriguez and Ibrahim Covi leading the way. Rodriguez got his first goal with a magnificent right-footed volley in the 14th minute. CCFC would double their lead in the 56th minute with a goal from Ibrahim Covi, who sent the keeper the wrong way with a penalty kick.
The win also served as their second clean sheet in a row and the first clean sheet at home. Currently sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings of MLSNP, a win on Sunday guarantees The Foxes a spot in the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
Last Matchup
The last matchup between Carolina Core FC and Inter Miami CF II did not go in CCFC’s favor, as Miami would go on to beat The Foxes by a score of 5-1 at Truist Point.
The match saw Miami score two unanswered goals before halftime, and then a red card in the second half issued to CCFC’s Josuha Rodriguez led them to score three more goals to put the game out of reach. A late consolation goal would get CCFC on the board, as Miami’s Nykolas Sessock scored an own goal in the 91st minute.
In their first matchup back in May, CCFC would steal two points away from home as a 1-1 draw led to a penalty kick shootout, which The Foxes won 4-2.
Inter Miami CF II
Inter Miami CF II are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference Standings of MLS NEXT Pro with 45 points and have compiled a total of 13 wins, eight losses, and six draws.
In their last match, Miami fell to Crown Legacy FC in a 5-2 rout. Crown Legacy FC would score two goals in the opening 30 minutes of the match, but forward Cohen Yuval scored quickly to bring the score back to 2-1 just five minutes later. Crown Legacy FC would then go on to score two more goals before Miami forward Mateo Saja Dulce scored Miami’s second goal to make it 4-2. CLFC would score their fifth goal in the 91st minute to finish off the game and secure the victory.
The Inter Miami CF II attack is led by forward Ryan Carmichael. The Northern Ireland native leads the team in goals with nine and is in second place for assists with six. Defender Nykolas Sessock has the most assists and most minutes played for Miami this season, having appeared in every regular season game barring one.
